FIL-AMERICAN Treat Huey stayed in contention in the men’s doubles of the 2017 French Open men’s doubles at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

The world no. 38 Huey and men’s doubles partner Dennis Istomin are set to clash with fifth seed Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in the second round after prevailing over Robin Haase of France and former partner Dominic Inglot, 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 6-3, in the first round.

In Huey’s previous doubles sorties, he managed to reach the third round of the French Open back in 2012, 2013 and 2016.

The fifth seeded Murray and Soares  earlier repulsed Janko Tapsarevic and Viktor Troacki, 6-3, 7-6 (7-0), to arrange to a fight with Huey and Istomin.

They will meet Scott Lipsky and Leander Paes, who prevailed over Radu Albot and Hyeon Chung, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.

Huey was not as fortunate in the mixed doubles as he and partner Racquel Attawo took a 6-1, 2-6, 7-10 setback from third seeds Andrea Hlavackova and Edouard Roger-Vaselin in the first round.

Hlavackova and Roger-Vaselin scored on four out of eight receiving points in the final set to keep Huey and Attawo at bay.
