President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday cracked a joke on having a new paramour as he admitted that the sudden P3-million increase in his Statement of Assets and Liabilities came from the excess of his contributions during the campaign.
“That’s the excess from what came to me, I don’t know the purpose and who are they, but I placed it there as income. It’s already the excess. But I already paid for the income tax,” Duterte told reporters in Hong Kong.
In his 2016 SALN filed last April 18 but only made public to reporters on Friday, it showed his net worth rose to P27,428,862.44 at the end of 2016 while he had P24,080,094.04 net worth as of June 30—mainly attributed to an additional P3,148,768.40 in his cash assets. He also acquired other personal properties worth P1 million.
Prior to his admission about the sudden increase in his cash assets, Duterte opened up on a certain girl named “Vanessa,” who would often accompany him in his trips abroad.
“If BIR would catch me, I’ll tell the truth about Vanessa,” the President said. “But as of now, she remains incognito but ah, she’s nice. And someday, I will reveal the truth. But for now… you guess where my P3 million came from. The woman has money.”
Duterte described “Vanessa” as a single woman from Manila, who would refuse to tell him if she’s separated or single and would accompany his trips.
“But this time, she’s not here. But in the previous trips, she was always a member of the … Bong [Go] would like to tell the truth about her, but I said not now,” he said.
Asked on when did “Vanessa” became his new sugar mommy, Duterte said that it came “after the elections.”
Duterte, an admitted womanizer, has three children from a previous marriage with Elizabeth Zimmerman and another child with his common law wife, Cielito “Honeylet” Avancena.
In his speech before the Filipino community in Hong Kong, Duterte said that he shares the same womanizing ways with Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Teodoro Bacani, but he doesn’t engage in corruption.
O itong si Bacani, dalawa ang asawa, tatlo ang kabit. Parang noong nagbasa ako, parang Duterte ‘man ito,” the President said. “Hindi ako pari tsaka hiwalay ako sa asawa. E ang mata ko sige lang ang likot galaw galaw man dito.”
“Ang sakit niya, sakit ko rin. Pero wala akong corruption,” he added.
