Palasan, Pagente rule HEAD jr. net Iloilo leg

TOP seed players Matt Palasan and Gennifer Pagente displayed impressive performances to clinch separate titles in the fifth leg of 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit recently at the La Paz Tennis Club courts in Iloilo City.

Palasan rallied past Cebuano Venz Alforque, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, in the 18-and-under boys’ singles finals to bag the crown, while the No. 1 Pagente whacked Bliss Bayking, 6-2, 6-2, in the 16-and-under girls’ singles championship round to win the title.

The tournament is supported by Chris Sports, the nationwide sports retail chain, Toalson strings, UBE Express, the Premium Airport Bus Service, media partners People’s Television, Aksyon Sports, Business Mirror, Philippine Locale, Cook, Health and Fitness, Pilipino Mirror and Philippines Graphics.

In other boys’ singles finals results, Khenz Justiniani blasted Axl Lajon Gonzaga, 7-5, 6-2, for the 12-and-under crown, while Raven Hitosis won over Jericho Ong, 6-2, 6-4, to claim the 14-and-under crown and Venz Alforque crushed Jon Dreve Jimenea, 6-4, 6-1, for the 16-and-under trophy.

Alexie Santos defeated Bliss Bayking, 6-0, 6-2, to gain the 18-and-under girls’ singles title, while Theresa Claire Nacito beat Avril Andrea Suace, 6-3, 2-6, 10-7, for the 14-and-under girls’ title, and Erika Ayson bested Ma. Hannah Divinagracia, 6-4, 6-4, to win the 12-and-under girls’ trophy.

Ma. Hannah Divinagracia, meanwhile, bashed Jade Ibabao, 4-0, 4-2, to win the 10-and-under unisex crown of the satellite tennis junior competition organized by HEAD Philippines distributor Dynamic Sports.  

The doubles’ champions were Derrick Guillano and Ma. Hannah Divinagracia (10-and-under unisex); Jann Guillano and Rupert Tortal (14-and-under boys); Venz Alforque and Mark Crisosto (18-and-under boys); Theresa Claire Nacito and Avril Andrea Suace (14-and-under girls); and Alexie Santos and Stephanie Crisosto (18-and-under girls).
