CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—The Police Regional Office Calabarzon on Wednesday conducted Oplan Tokhang and Taphang at Enlisted Men’s Barrio, a housing community inside its regional headquarters at Barangay Mayapa, Calamba City.
Police, city officials, and representatives from the religious sector conducted house-to-house visits to former surrenderers, followed with the Taphang program at the Purok 4 Covered Court.
Sr. Supt. Restito Gatera, deputy regional director for Operation of PRO4A, and Supt. Fernando Ortega, chief of police of Calamba City, led the activity with Calamba City Mayor Justin Marc Chipeco, barangay chairman Flaviano Taniola; retired Sr. Supt. Apolinar Felipe, president of EM’s Barrio Homeowners Association; Rev. Fr. Julius Cruz, regional pastoral officer; Pastor Ernie Cerezo of Calamba Pastor’s Alliance; and other members of the government of Laguna and PRO Calabarzon.
Approximately 500 residents participated in the activity, which aims to promote community awareness on the negative effects of illegal drugs.
Oplan Tokhang (Tok-Tok Hangyo), which means “knock and request” in Cebuano, and Oplan Taphang (Tapok Hangyo), which means “gather and request” are the two components of Project Double Barrel of the Philippine National Police’s focused war against drugs.
