Govt doctor meted 114 years in jail

THE Ombudsman announced on Friday the conviction of a government doctor for 19 counts of falsification of time cards in 2003 to 2005.

The anti-graft court said Dr. Rosalinda Benitez, then a full-time medical officer IV at the Manila City health department and part-time medical specialist at the Jose Fabella Hospital, was sentenced to six years for each indictment, or a total of 114 years.

“The holding of two government positions in the government is expressly prohibited by law and the accused in this case concealed and did not declare her simultaneous government employment with conflicting work schedule,” ruled Manila City Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Marlina Manuel.
