JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has designated Makati City Prosecutor Jorge Catalan Jr. as officer-in-charge of the Department of Justice’s National Prosecution Service.
Aguirre said Catalan will take over the responsibilities of Prosecutor General Claro Arellano, who took a terminal leave after being appointed head of Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. Arellano’s leave started on Thursday up to January 5.
“[Arellano] is going to resign from his post because he is already appointed as administrator of POEA upon the request of Labor Secretary [Silvestre] Bello,” Aguirre admitted.
Earlier, he ordered the transfer to provincial posts of two top prosecutors of the DoJ—Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Theodore Villanueva and Miguel Gudio Jr.
In separate department orders, he designated Villanueva as acting provincial prosecutor of Guimaras and Guido as acting provincial prosecutor of Compostela Valley.
