Former Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 General Manager Al Vitangcol is now a subject of an arrest warrant.
The Sandiganbayan has released a warrant of arrest for Vitangcol in connection with the graft charges filed against him by the Ombudsman.
He allegedly tried to extort $30 million from Czech company Inekon Group which supplied light rail vehicles.
This was supposedly so that Inekon would be awarded contracts relating to MRT-3’s expansion project in 2012.
The anti-graft court has also ordered the arrest of businessman Wilson de Vera, who is co-accused in the graft complaints.
Vitangcol and De Vera may each avail of the P 30,000 bail set by the Sandiganbayan to obtain temporary liberty.
