SAN FERNANDO—For providing fast and easy services like speedy issuance of permits and other documents, the city became a Hall of Fame awardee in the 42nd Philippines Business And Expo of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Marriot Hotel on Tuesday.
President Rodrigo Duterte handed the award to City Mayor Edwin Santiago on the last day of the affair.
Joe Alejandro, chairman of the local government unit committee said the city was awarded the Most Business-Friendly City for adopting and institutionalizing innovative and good practices in governance while promoting competitiveness among businessmen.
The city was also adjudged the Most Business Friendly City for consecutive years of 2014 and 2015, and became a Hall of Famer for 2016.
Earlier, Santiago was also named as one of the Presidential Lingkod Bayan awardees in Central Luzon during the Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees of the Civil Service Commission for year 2016.
An engineer by profession, he was able to used his experience as transport manager of the San Miguel Corp. in attracting more investments to the city and boosting employment while implementing government policies and programs like plastic free ordinance, ecological solid waste management and the establishment of an organic trading post.
