SOFIA Chabon moved up to solo third with another two-under 71 but remained four strokes behind Malaysian Nur Durriyah Damian after two rounds of the Thailand Ladies Amateur Open at the Legacy Golf Club in Thailand late Wednesday.

Chabon, 15, flashed superb form to match her opening round effort as The Country Club ace pooled a 142 at the par-73 layout and stayed four off Damian, who also carded a 71 after a 67 for a 138 and a two-shot lead over Thai Napabhach Boon-in, who shot a 72 for a 142.

Over in Florida, Princess Superal fired a bogey-free four-under 68 to jump from joint 11th to solo second at 141 but still stood four shots off local ace Maria McBride, who shot a 69 for a 137, in the second round of the National Women’s GA-Zellwood Classic at the Zellwood Station Country Club, also Wednesday.

Superal, priming up for next week’s LPGA Q-School Stage 2, also in Florida, birdied Nos. 1, 9, 12 and 18 while saving pars twice to put in a pair of 34s and arrange a final round showdown with McBride, who also turned in a solid 34-35 card to hold sway.

“It’s a big deficit but she’s confident. She’s been hitting it pretty well off the tee although she missed a couple of birdie chances,” said TCC coach Bong Lopez.

Lisbeth Brooks matched par 72 for a 142 while Monica Sealy and Madison Opfer remained tied at 143 after a pair of 72s.

In Thailand, the other TCC bets failed to gain headway with Mikha Fortuna laying seven shots behind at 145 despite a two-under 71 in a tie with teammate Bernice Olivarez-Ilas, who matched par 73.

Pauline del Rosario, who dominated this event last year, rebounded from an opening 77 with a three-under 70 but remained nine strokes off at 147 heading to the final round of the 54-hole event, Thailand’s premier amateur championship.

Kayla Nocum skied to a 79 after a 72 for a 151.
