President Rodrigo Duterte is speaking at the oath-taking of new officers of the Malacañang Press Corps on Monday afternoon.
He is talking about extra-judicial killings.
He says, “of course, there are extra-judicial killings, but these are not perpetrated by government.”
Duterte also reiterates his commitment to uphold the freedom of the press.
He says, ‘I tell government officials to make sure government does not silence the press.”
The President also says, Senator Leila de Lima must be investigated.
“She is diverting the issue,” he says, referring to De Lima’s presentation of alleged members of the Davao Death Squad (DDS) in the Senate investigation.
“Makukulong yan talaga,” he referring to the lawmaker whom the President earlier linked to illegal drug trade in New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
He says, the lawmaker’s former driver and bodyguard Ronnie Dayan will also end up in jail.
