P-pop group MNL48 will officially conclude its activities at the end of the month.
On Wednesday, May 20, the group’s management company P.O.S Inc. said in a statement that the decision came after “extensive discussions” and careful evaluation of the group’s long-term sustainability, operating environment and management structure.
“After carefully considering the sustainability of the management structure, the future operating environment, and the various conditions necessary to continue supporting the group in a stable manner, we have come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to continue MNL48’s activities going forward,” the statement read.
Management apologized to fans and members for the decision and thanked supporters who had been part of the group’s journey.
The company also announced that the music video for “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie,” will serve as MNL48’s final work as a group.
In a separate social media post, the management expressed gratitude to MNL48 members and fans known as MNLoves.
Formed in 2018 as the Philippine sister group of Japan’s AKB48 franchise, MNL48 built a dedicated following through its music, performances and fan-centered idol system over the years.
