DoT pushes PH destinations

The Department of Tourism on Monday opened the Philippine Tourism Showroom at the lobby of the new DoT building on Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City.

The showroom showcases the country’s key destinations, culture, and local products to boost foreign and local tourist arrivals this year, the department said.

Among the local products available at the showroom are Marikina bags and shoes, knotted rosaries by Caritas Manila, fashion accessories and a variety of Filipino delicacies.

DoT Undersecretaries Kathe-rine de Castro and Alma Rita Jimenez hosted the opening, which was attended by educators, students, travel agency owners, and entrepreneurs.

“We’ve opened showrooms in different parts of the Philippines and it’s only fitting that we have one in our DoT office,” De Castro said.

De Castro added that DoT wants to attract more arrivals from India, Korea and Malaysia and from new markets France, Germany and Russia.

The showroom is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tourist attractions in the National Capital Region will be featured until September 30.

Visitors may book flights on Cebu Pacific and Air Asia at the showroom soon.
