The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is preparing an answer to the criticism lodged by United Nations (UN) High Commissioner on Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein against President Rodrigo Duterte’s anti-drug campaign.
DFA Assistant Secretary Charles Jose says, they will respond to the Hussein’s pronouncements within one day.
Hussein earlier said, “the President of the Philippines’ statements of scorn for international human rights law display a striking lack of understanding of our human rights institutions and principles which keep societies safe.”
He added, “empowering police to shoot to kill any individual whom they claim to suspect of drug crimes, with or without evidence, undermines justice.”
