The Reyog Dance Performance promotes the Indonesian culture in the Philippines

It was held at the Atrium of SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City on Aug. 25.

Reyog is an Indonesian traditional dance that became the main identity of the Ponorogo regency of East Java, Indonesia.  It tells the story about the struggle of a prince who will propose to a beautiful princess.  Reyog Ponorogo is also about the mythical battle between the King of Ponorogo and the magical lion-like creature called Singa Barong.

The Reyog dance is a widely known cultural attraction in Indonesia and is popular even to foreign tourists. It is performed by about 25 to 40 dancers and musicians. It is interesting to note that the dancer of its main leading figure, who is Singa Barong, bears the mask weighing around 30 to 40 kilograms and is supported by the strength of his teeth.
