Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella reports that Philippine Charge d’Affaires to Washington Patrick Chuasoto has already explained to the U.S. State Department the circumstances behind President Duterte’s ‘gay’ description of U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg.
Abella did not give details on what Chuasoto said to the State Department when he was summoned there.
The Presidential Spokesperson just says, Duterte’s remark on Goldberg was not a public statement.
He notes, ‘it was just confined to a certain audience,’ reffering to the military camp in Cebu where the President spoke last week.
The row began during the election campaign when the U.S. diplomat criticized Duterte’s ‘joke’ about the rape-slay of an Australian missionary in Davao City in 1989.
