Dozens of people were killed in clashes in the Turkish capital of Ankara as elements of theTurkish military backed by tanks staged an attempted coup Friday night against the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The local media made this report citing the prosecutor’s office in Ankara's Golbasi District as source.
NTV placed the number of fatalities at 42.
17 policemen are said to be among the dead along with civilians.
Erdogan described the situation as largely under control.
