In today’s digital age, wearable technology can already blur the line between tech and fashion. Though integrating tech in wearable apparel is still in its rudimentary stage, we’ve gone as far as wearing Google glass and smartwatches. And while we wait for wearable tech to become mainstream, there are lifestyle gadgets that surely complete a person’s everyday fashion staple.
In the recently concluded 20th Philippine Fashion Week, premium Apple partner Power Mac Center collaborated with some of the country’s renowned fashion designers to showcase the hottest lifestyle tech that goes in union with their trendy collections.
The two-day fashion event highlighted Power Mac Center’s new digital lifestyle staples like iPhone cases, bags, and Apple Watch bands presented in a series of shows.
According to Joey Alvarez, marketing director of Power Mac Center, it is an honor to be the Official Technology Partner of the Philippine Fashion Week for the second time. “The visual feast it provides is the perfect backdrop for us to introduce our own ‘collection.’ This year, we made sure to carefully select functional pieces that complement the contemporary urban lifestyle,” he adds.
During the first day, Melchor Guinto’s “Enigma” collection featured Misfit sporty wearables. The wireless personal activity trackers that can record even cycling and swimming progress complements the designer’s edgy and sporty vibe. Randall Solomon’s “Midnight Rose” collection made use of beyerdynamic headphones that transport the women in bob cut hair into sci-fi movie characters with Parisian undertones. Global brand Sonix which specializes in fashion accessories for iPhones was highlighted by Jerome Salaya Ang’s collection “Into The Unknown” that closed the first day of the fashion affair.
On the second day, Jeffrey Rogador’s street wear “Prints and Patterns” collection lit up the runway with his modern interpretation of Philippine tribal patterns and textures. The colors and linear designs of his collection blend perfectly with Hong Kong-based brand of laptop bags thecoopidea in backpacks, shoulder bags and hand bags. For Sidney Perez Sio’s “10,000 Joys and 10,000 Sorrows,” his pink hues and florals featured Moshi’s carryalls and gadget-carrying cases made from water-resistant fabric and vegan leather. Closing the Fashion Week was Cherry Samuya Veric with her “Viva!” collection inspired by the Sinulog festival. Her models wore tribal patterns in sequins and handcrafted leather together with Casemate Apple Watch Bands.
Power Mac Center is celebrating its 22nd anniversary through a series of lifestyle events anchored on the arts, music and fashion.
