Tables are now turned against expelled Iglesia Ni Cristo minister Lowell Menorca II after serious illegal detention case has been filed against him before the Department of Justice by the parents of Abegail Yanson, nanny of his daughter.
Candido and Rosalie Yanson, parents of Abegail, asked the DOJ to indict Menorca for allegedly keeping their daughter against her will and filed the non-bailable charge on Wednesday.
Accompanied by lawyer Alex Avisado, the complainants alleged that Menorca and his wife Jinky brought Abegail to Manila from Bulan, Sorsogon last July and have since not allowed her to see her family.
They also disputed the claim of Menorca’s lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles that an agent of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group tried to “rescue” the nanny during the hearing on the habeas corpus and Amparo case at the Court of Appeals last Tuesday.
“I was the one who hugged my daughter. I’ve been wanting to do that because I missed her,” a teary-eyed Rosalie said when interviewed by reporters.
Roselle, sister of Abegail, also claimed that it was her who grabbed her sister and not a CIDG agent, calling Angeles a “liar.”
However, Avisado, who admitted he was tapped by the INC to provide legal representation to the Yanson family, did not explain how the elements of serious illegal detention were met in this case. He said it would be “too legalistic.”
Earlier, the camp of Menorca insisted that Abegail’s family was being used by the INC leadership to further harass him and his family.
