Painter and art director Christiana Jade de Silva-Ong passed away on June 18 after suffering two strokes while in the ICU. She was 36.
Her husband, author Wincy Ong, announced her death on his Facebook page today, where he had been sharing updates about her condition since she suffered an aneurysm on June 5.
Known as one of the children from Promil’s ’90s commercials, CJ also made her mark as a visual artist with solo and group exhibitions at venues including The Ayala Museum, Whitespace Gallery, and The Collective. She served as executive creative director at TBWA\ SMP and co-hosted the podcast Telebabad Tapes with Wincy.
Among her notable works are the album art for Itchyworms’ “After All This Time” and the cover of the late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago’s book, “Stupid is Forever.”
CJ’s wake will be held at The Heritage Park in Taguig from June 20 to June 22, followed by a cremation service on June 23.
