Sen. Risa Hontiveros on Tuesday called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership to ensure that none of its officers are being influenced by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy or any of his allies, particularly former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Hontiveros expressed hope that Duterte will not cover up for Quiboloy, founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), who is facing several charges.
She even asked the former President to help locate his friend Quiboloy.
“I trust that more of our men and women in uniform are also doing all they can to bring Quiboloy to justice,” Hontiveros said, renewing her call to Quiboloy to surrender.
“Cooperate with our law enforcers for once. Face your charges and accusations. You have no place to hide,” she added.
The lawmaker likewise said there may have been a breakdown in PNP intelligence gathering.
“I said so the moment PNP failed to locate Quiboloy’s whereabouts after the issuance of several warrants of arrest several months ago,” Hontiveros said.
