The head of the Department of Physical Therapy (PT) of the Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR) Medical Foundation on Thursday expressed pride in the remarkable performance of their students, who landed in the top two spots and earned four places in the June 2024 PT Board Examinations.

Jay Anthony Cañete, head of the PT department of RTR, said he was proud of the feats of Michael Nivera, Bien Yamon, Clarence Noguerra and Sigfred Jay Bernales—Top 1, 2, 8 and 10, respectively—in the recent licensure exams.

“Here at the PT department of RTR, we are very proud of the latest batch of those who took the licensure exams, especially the four who made it to the Top 10. We can’t believe that we also got Top 1 and 2 because we were just hoping that our board takers pass,” Cañete said.

The RTR also registered an impressive 96.55 percent batting average for board passers, one of the highest in the country, as 28 of its 29 students passed the PT licensure examinations last June.

“So, we are very grateful to the Lord that we were able to compete with bigger and more established schools, especially in Metro Manila. Our efforts to deliver quality education are paying off,” Cañete said.

Nivera, who earned the highest score in the licensure examinations with 91.95 percent, said he did not expect to top the board exams, but he really did burn the midnight oil in preparing for it.

“This is a dream come true for me. I am thankful to RTR because we received a real quality education from the school. I am just too full of gratitude to everyone who believed in me,” Nivera said.

Earlier, Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog party-list Rep. Yedda Romualdez both expressed pride and joy at the achievement of RTR students in the recent PT licensure examinations. The school is located in the Speaker’s hometown of Tacloban City.

Mrs. Romualdez echoed the sentiments of the Speaker, saying she also felt great pride and joy at the achievement of the RTR.

“As a representative of the Waray people and a supporter of our local educational institutions, I am incredibly proud of the RTR’s achievement as it underscores the quality of education and training provided by the institution and the dedication of its students and faculty,” she said.

“Your success demonstrates that excellence is not confined to the largest and most well-known schools. It proves that with quality education, dedicated faculty and hardworking students, any institution can achieve greatness,” Mrs. Romualdez added.
