Cagayan Valley cops gain P49.6M to build provincial offices

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya—Police Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro, acting Philippine National Police Regional Director for Cagayan Valley, said new buildings will be built next year for the PNP Provincial Office here and in Cagayan province next year.

Casimiro said the projects will be funded through the PNP-Department of Public Works and Highways Convergence Program, amounting to P49.6 million.

“The two Provincial Police Offices will have P24.8 million each as funding for the new buildings. I hope that by next year, Isabela will be included,” he said during his recent command visit at the Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office here.

The fund is part of the P22 billion allotted for them through the PNP-DPWH CP, the first of its kind to be done for the country’s national police, Casimiro added.

According to the regional police chief, the PNP can now build the needed 300 PNP stations in the country as part of its Modernization Program in three years’ time.

“Our PNP is still in need of buildings,” Casimiro, who spent most of his police career in logistics work, said.

The police also still need sub-stations and buildings for Provincial Mobile Groups (PMGs) and national support groups, such as the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Cyber Crime Group (CCG), crime laboratories, and Security and Protective Groups.

Casimiro also announced that the PNP has purchased a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) Machine at the National Crime Laboratory worth P134 million.

“This will used for scientific evidence gathering, profiling and documentation method, as DNA cannot be altered or changed,” he said.

The PNP will also be putting up regional crime laboratories in the country as part of its Modernization Program.

“Modern training and equipment are the basics of our program, and we are moving on the enhancement stage. Our new policemen should be sincere and dedicated to their services to the people to regain and maintain the integrity and image of the PNP,” Casimiro added.
