The Department of Energy said it started preparations to ensure continuous and adequate energy supply in the mid-term elections on May 13.
The department’s Energy Task Force Election held its first preparatory meeting on Feb. 4 to discuss preparations for the elections.
“Uninterrupted energy supply is pivotal to the integrity of the electoral process. The entire energy family, in cooperation with all ETFE members, will be working 24/7 to help ensure a peaceful, orderly, honest and credible election,” Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi said.
Undersecretary and task force chairperson Alexander Lopez led the discussions on coordination strategies as well as security and contingency planning to guarantee energy services before, during and after the election period.
Cusi assured the public that timely updates on generation, transmission and distribution systems would be provided regularly.
