Hoffman establishes 1st record in 60m hurdles

PARIS Olympian Lauren Hoffman started her indoor season by establishing the first Philippine national record in the 60m hurdles at the Camel City Sprints on Friday.

The 26-year-old Hoffman placed second in the 60m Hurdles in 8.48 seconds at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, according to results posted on the official website.

Hoffman’s clocking is the first registered best time that can be can considered as a national record in that distance by the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association, once ratified.

Hoffman was behind Skyla Wilson, who topped the event ion 8.26 seconds, while Lexie Keller took third in 8.61 seconds.

Also on Friday, Hoffman placed second in the 400m, with a time of 54.83, behind Aliyarae Garozzo, who won it in 52.96 seconds.

This was more than a second off the national record Hoffman registered at 53.71 seconds during the Tiger Paw Invitationals in Clemson, South Carolina on Feb. 2024.
