Perpetual Help scores twin-kill vs. San Sebastian

BOTH the Perpetual Help Altas and defending champion Perpetual Junior Altas opened their campaigns on a winning note against the San Sebastian College on Friday in the NCAA Season 101 at the FilOil Arena in San Juan City.

Four Altas players scored in double digits to lead coach Olsen Racela’s team to a 67-54 victory against the Stags, even as the Junior Altas crushed the Staglets, 78-61, to show that they mean business in their bid to keep their crown.

“Having that first win is always a welcome (sight) pero we have a lot of things to cover,” Racela said. “This is just one win but I think I liked our defensive effort today.”

Mark Gojo Cruz paced the Altas with a team-high 15 points to go along with two rebounds and two assists. Holdovers John Abis and John Boral and the debuting Patrick Sleat all scored 10 in the victory.

Tristan Felebrico was the sole double-digit scorer for the Stags with 12 points to his name alongside seven rebounds.

Jim Corpuz scored a game-high 17 points to go with 4 boards, 2 assists and 2 blocks to lead Junior Altas, while Loiue Rosales added 13 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and an assist.
