Shuvee Etrata still takes fame one step at a time

Less than a year after her stint inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, Shuvee Etrata said her life has changed in ways she never imagined.

The rising actress, who now stars in the upcoming action-drama series The Master Cutter, reflected on her fast rise in showbiz industry during the show’s recent press conference, admitting that the transition from struggling newcomer to sought-after young actress still overwhelms her at times.

“It’s been like one year. My life turned not just 360 degrees but 720 degrees. My life really changed,” Shuvee candidly said.

Before entering showbiz, the actress said practicality pushed her to leave Cebu and she tried her luck in Manila to help support her family. Long before the endorsements, television projects, and growing online following, she said her main goal was simple, and that was to earn enough to help provide for the people waiting for her back home.

“Back then, I barely had any support or money to help provide for my family. As practical as I am, that’s why I came to Manila, to help my family,” she shared.

Now, the actress said she has finally been able to give back to them consistently, something she once feared might never happen.

“And to be able to provide that security and love for them, wow. God has really been so good in my life,” Shuvee continued.

As the eldest among nine siblings, she admitted the past year tested her emotionally in ways she did not expect. Between adjusting to life in Manila and navigating sudden public attention after PBB, she said she realized she still had more strength left in her than she initially believed.

“I thought I was already strong. Then suddenly it was like, ‘Oh, there’s more? There’s still another challenge? It still won’t stop?’ Wow. I realized giving up was never really an option,” she added.

Despite the growing attention surrounding her career, Shuvee maintained that she still sees herself as a newcomer trying to learn from more experienced actors on set, including Dingdong Dantes and the show’s seasoned cast members.

“I’m very much blessed and grateful to have been given a lot of opportunities to grow as an actor and to grow as a person. I’m just absorbing everything that I need to learn,” Shuvee explained.

She added that hearing seasoned actors say they see potential in her feels both exciting and humbling.

“I honestly got really thrilled hearing that. But at the same time, I still have so much to learn,” she admitted.

The actress also briefly addressed the online buzz surrounding fellow Sparkle artist and suitor Anthony Constantino, whom she recently supported during the Bida sa Arena basketball event.

Shuvee said she hopes people eventually recognize him beyond his connection to her.

“It’s about time people get to know who Anthony really is. He has so much potential,” she stated.
