Singer Jojo Mendrez, dubbed the “Revival King,” is releasing a new holiday track, “Ngayong Pasko’y Ikaw Pa Rin,” under Star Music this October.
The song, composed by award-winning songwriter Jonathan Manalo, is described as an emotional piece that evokes themes of love and longing, drawing comparisons to OPM Christmas classics “Pasko Na Sinta Ko” and “Sana Ngayong Pasko.”
Mendrez said he feels honored to have a song written for him by Manalo, adding that he hopes it will touch listeners the same way the classic ballads of Gary Valenciano and Ariel Rivera have become part of Filipino Christmas traditions.
“This is truly one of the biggest honors of my career. I’m honored to have a song written for me that I hope will touch listeners the same way,” he said.
Mendrez is known for his revival hits such as “Magkabilang Mundo,” “Somewhere in My Past,” “Tuyo ng Damdamin,” “Sana,” and “Handog,” which earned him the Revival Song of the Year award at the 2018 PMPC Star Awards for Music. He has also released original tracks, including “Basta Ikaw,” “Diwa ng Pasko,” and “Nandito Lang Ako.”
