Concert director Paolo Valenciano is taking responsibility for the production issues at the JBL Sound Fest, making it clear he no longer sees a future in working with Rico Blanco after the incident.
In a Facebook statement, Paolo admitted he “lost complete control of our event, which caused a major delay and added two extra hours of work to an already exhausted team.”
He apologized to JBL and to Cup of Joe, revealing the band “had to be picked up by motorcycles in traffic jams” to make an adjusted call time.
Paolo said the hiccups were especially disappointing since it was his first year handling the annual show. But the message that drew the strongest reactions online came at the end of his post, where he addressed Rico directly.
“While I sincerely wish you the best, I’ve learned that we’re simply not meant to work together again,” he wrote, calling the musician his “hero” before firmly closing the door on future collaborations.
Rico has not commented on the issue or responded to the concert director as of press time.
The JBL Sound Fest took place on Dec. 6 at Parklinks Open Grounds in Pasig City.
