BATANGAS Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste on Tuesday said he would he was willing to pay for Palace Information Undersecretary Claire Castro’s “sleepless nights and anxiety” in light of a countersuit he filed against her.
“USec Claire Castro is asking me to pay her for the ‘sleepless nights and anxiety’ allegedly caused by the case I filed against her,” Leviste said in a social media post.
“I have no obligation to compensate her. But if she needs treatment now, I will cover her hospital expenses,” Leviste added.
Castro earlier filed a P500-million countersuit against Leviste who, in January, filed a P111-million libel complaint against her.
“P500 million damages, it is part of my compulsory counterclaim… because of twisting some facts in the complaint, and it ruined my integrity as Palace press officer,” Castro earlier said.
The Palace official added that the counterclaim was “legally grounded,” thus she was entitled to compensation for damage to her reputation.
