United States President Donald Trump should be held accountable for the consequences of his actions, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson said on Tuesday.
“The Philippines is in crisis along with the rest of the world because President Trump’s brinkmanship did not work. In fact, it has boomeranged,” he said.
According to modern dictionaries, ‘brinkmanship’ is defined as “the art or practice of pursuing a dangerous policy to the limits of safety before stopping, especially in politics.”
Lacson pointed out that recent US policies have worsened tensions in the Middle East, disrupting oil supplies to countries including the Philippines, and affecting more nations beyond the initial hotspots.
He pointed to the Nordic Alliance, comprising Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Iceland, aligning with Canada and potentially extending support through NATO, as evidence of the global impact.
“Things are not looking good for the US and the world, all because of the narcissistic arrogance of one ‘leader of the free world,'” Lacson said.
