Binay thanks admin for public transport fuel subsidy

Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay on Friday thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his initiative to offer P5,000 in fuel subsidy aimed at assisting tricycle drivers.

Around 6,000 tricycle drivers have been officially registered in Makati City.

According to Binay, the financial aid will offer essential relief to tricycle drivers, who are among the groups most impacted by the ongoing rise in fuel prices due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Other transport sectors, such as jeepney drivers and operators, will follow suit.

“We thank President Marcos for immediately responding to the needs of our public transport drivers,” she said.

As part of the program, each eligible tricycle driver will receive P5,000 in financial support.

The distribution in Metro Manila is set to start Tuesday, led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Transportation, in collaboration with local government units.

Binay reassured Makati tricycle drivers the city government will collaborate closely with national agencies to facilitate the distribution of the subsidy to qualified beneficiaries.
