NCRPO realigns cops tasked to secure EDSA ‘Trillion Peso March’

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced Monday the realignment of its personnel to be deployed for the 3rd Trillion Peso March event during the commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25, 2026.

Speaking at a press briefing, NCRPO spokesperson Major Hazel Asilo said they will deploy 13,448 cops—lower than the 14,226 reported earlier.

“We had a realignment of our personnel. Our PNP personnel from the Southern Police District were reduced. Instead of bringing them to EDSA, they were realigned to our usual law enforcement operations in the SPD area,” she explained.

Asilo also said that only three groups of the original five groups who applied for a rally permit were allowed by the local government unit.

“Of the five groups that submitted their request for a permit, we had three groups instead, including the Trillion Peso March Movement, which included Tindig Pilipinas and then Siklab,” according to the NCRPO spokesperson.

“So, what they asked was if they could come together since there was only one venue and one stage to be used. Those who agreed to come together in the same location and on the same stage were the ones allowed,” she added.

Asilo explained that the other two groups who applied for rally permits failed to secure them because their requested location was either not approved or fell within an area under a private organization that manages the EDSA Shrine.

According to the NCRPO, some rally sites were outside Quezon City’s jurisdiction and were thus realigned to Mandaluyong City.
