PH Embassy aids Filipina assaulted at Singapore mall

The Philippine Embassy in Singapore on Wednesday said that it is assisting a Filipina who was reportedly assaulted by an unidentified man inside a shopping mall on February 8.

In a statement, the embassy mentioned that it is implementing appropriate measures to support the victim through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“The Embassy, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), is taking appropriate measures and has reached out to the victim to provide the necessary assistance,” the statement read.

“We continue to closely monitor the situation and remain in contact with the victim to help ensure her safety and well-being,” it added.

The embassy has not released further details at this point, to avoid influencing ongoing efforts or the case.

On February 8, a viral video showed a man, whose nationality is not confirmed, speaking to a Filipina before kicking her, which caused her to fall.
