The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said it has expanded housing options for the working class, informal sector workers, and informal settler families (ISFs).
These are all under the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, a flagship initiative of the Marcos Jr. administration, the department said.
Housing Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling cited the sustained nationwide rollout of the Expanded 4PH program and the continued awarding of housing units and other forms of assistance to beneficiaries.
“Under the Expanded 4PH program, we have included all those who should benefit from the government’s housing program—from the working class to informal settlers and informal settler families, especially those along waterways,” Aliling said.
For ISFs, Aliling said the DHSUD has tasked the Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC) to aggressively implement the people-centric Enhanced Community Mortgage Program (ECMP), as well as incremental or phase-by-phase housing improvements based on beneficiaries’ capacity.
He also recommended rental housing under the Expanded 4PH for families who are not yet able to afford home ownership.
For employees and the working class, the DHSUD offers rental housing options, while the Pag-IBIG Fund provides socialized housing loans with interest rates as low as 3 percent for up to 10 years for qualified members, covering both horizontal and vertical housing projects.
