Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla said yesterday that he may opt to increase the reward money offered for information leading to the arrest of gaming tycoon and fugitive, Mr. Charlie “Atong” Tiu Hay Ang.
“Malapit na, kung ako mapikon talagang dadagdagan ko na yan eh. (Soon, if I get pissed, ‘I’ll add to that),”
the interior secretary said in an interview with GMA.
Remulla also said that whistleblower, Julie Dondon Patidongan, said that Ang may already have exited the country via backdoor to Cambodia.
“The BI has no record of him exiting through any of our ports. So if that happened, he might have gone through the backdoor,” he said.
On Thursday, Remulla told reporters that Ang has an e-sabong outfit in Cambodia.
“Now we are in contact with the police authorities there, our PNP is coordinating to get more solid information but repatriating him is probably more effective, we will wait for the President to talk to his counterpart in Cambodia so they can talk to him so he can be brought back here immediately if he is there,” Remulla said.
