Revilla surrenders, laments ‘no due process’

Former Senator Bong Revilla Jr. surrendered to the Philippine National Police Monday evening after the Sandiganbayan issued an arrest warrant against him and six others.

Revilla faces non-bailable charges of malversation and falsification of public documents over a  P92.8-million “ghost” flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Before arriving in Camp Crame, Revilla posted a video on social media where he lamented the issuance of an arrest warrant against him.

“We received information that my warrant of arrest is out. It’s saddening, like there is no due process,” Revilla said in Filipino in the video.

“Notwithstanding, I will face this without fear. I know that God will not forsake me as I am innocent,” he added.

The actor-politician asked his followers for prayers and support for his family.

“I can’t explain what I am feeling, to be honest. It’s so painful for me and my family,” Revilla said.

In a statement, the PNP said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) served the warrant of arrest upon Revilla’s arrival.

The former senator is undergoing standard booking, documentation, and medical procedures in accordance with protocol, the PNP said.
