A two-hour power interruption is scheduled for Monday night at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2, according to the airport’s private operator, New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).
“A scheduled power interruption will affect limited areas of NAIA Terminal 2 today, January 19, from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., as part of planned improvement works,” the NNIC said in its advisory.
“Flight operations will continue as scheduled, while critical airport systems and emergency lighting will remain operational. On-ground personnel will be on standby to assist passengers in affected areas,” it added.
The NNIC explained that the maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to improve and secure the power systems that keep airport operations running smoothly.
For years, the country’s premier airport has faced persistent power issues due to aging infrastructure, a lack of modernization, and insufficient capacity to meet increasing demands.
These challenges have disrupted operations, impacted passenger experiences, and limited the airport’s ability to function as an efficient transportation hub.
