NDRRMC: ‘Ada’ affects 260k persons in Bicol, Caraga regions

About 78,875 families, or some 260,000 individuals, in the Bicol and Caraga regions have been affected by Tropical Storm Ada (international name: Nokaen), the first cyclone to hit the country this year, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

In an update, the disaster response agency said these families are residing in 398 barangays in both regions.

As of posting, 5,533 families are being aided in 273 evacuation centers, while 4,582 families are receiving help outside.

Meanwhile, reports of two deaths and two injured in the Bicol Region are under validation, the NDRRMC said.

A total of 9,142 passengers remain stranded, along with 3,240 rolling cargoes, 17 vessels, and seven motor bancas across five regions.
