The Bureau of Immigration has intercepted a Chinese national who is the subject of an Interpol alert for being wanted for P30 million estafa.
The Chinese, identified as Xiao Chaoying, was the subject of an Interpol red notice and was nabbed upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Records showed Xiao arrived on board a Cebu Pacific flight from Hong Kong.
Following confirmation of the alert, the BI Interpol Unit immediately coordinated with NCB Manila and requested a copy of the subject’s warrant of arrest.
The case involves allegations that Xiao, acting in conspiracy with others, defrauded a private complainant by issuing postdated checks despite knowledge of insufficient funds, resulting in an alleged financial loss of approximately P30 million.
He has since been turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation.
