Illegal turns were the most common traffic violation recorded in 2025, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Saturday.
The MMDA said the infraction includes ignoring traffic signs or signals, improper lane use, failure to signal, and unsafe maneuvers that endanger pedestrians and other motorists.
Other frequent violations were unattended and attended illegal parking, disregarding traffic signs, and violations of the number coding scheme, based on records from the Traffic Ticket Management Division.
As of November 30, 2025, the MMDA logged 252,315 traffic violations, of which 119,345 were validated. Over the past decade, the agency recorded about 4,450 road traffic deaths in the National Capital Region.
MMDA chair Romando Artes said road crashes and fatalities exact a heavy cost on individuals and communities, citing reckless, distracted, and intoxicated drivers as persistent dangers on Metro Manila roads.
