The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) encourages the public to volunteer in the production of family food packs (FFPs) to ensure sufficient food supply for families affected by Mayon Volcano’s heightened restiveness.
DSWD assistant secretary Irene Dumlao of the agency’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) said the call for volunteers seeks to add manpower at the Luzon Disaster Resource Center in Pasay City, one of DSWD’s major repacking hubs.
“We invite our people to spend part of their new year volunteering in our disaster response preparations. Volunteers play a big role in our disaster response. In every family food pack that is formed, there is a family that we immediately help in times of disaster,” Dumlao said.
The DSWD’s National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau earlier called for additional volunteers to help in the production of family food packs at the LDRC in Pasay City.
