BOC posts 1.9% growth in revenue collection in 2025

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) has generated about P916.674 billion in revenues in 2025, representing 1.9-percent or P17.726 billion increase over its 2024 performance.

The BOC said the growth was recorded despite lower import volumes, the suspension of rice importation, and global commodity price fluctuations.

The agency attributed the hike to improved efficiency, stronger compliance measures, and expanded use of digital systems.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the BOC ended 2025 with gains in revenue collection, trade facilitation, border security, and institutional reforms, reinforcing its role in national development.

Border protection remained a priority, with the BOC conducting 1,024 enforcement operations last year. These led to the seizure of smuggled and prohibited goods valued at P61.707 billion.

The bureau cited improved intelligence coordination, risk profiling, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, as well as heightened use of non-intrusive inspection technologies.

The BOC also implemented governance reforms, including strict enforcement of the “No Take” policy, an anti-conflict of interest directive, the launch of the “Isumbong kay Commissioner” online portal, and updates to its Code of Conduct and Citizens’ Charter. Other initiatives included the enhanced BOC Tax Estimator and the establishment of the Balikbayan and OFW Action Center.

“2025 showed that the Bureau of Customs can transform,” Nepomuceno said, adding that the agency aims to be faster, more transparent, and more reliable as it moves forward in 2026.
