Palace says no replacements yet for vacant ICI posts

Malacañang said investigations by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will continue despite the body having only one remaining member, noting that its work has not stopped and that the Office of the Ombudsman remains actively involved.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the Palace has yet to receive any update on whether President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will appoint new ICI members.

“As of now, we have not been given any update on possible replacements,” Castro said.

“At present, those in the ICI are still working, and the Ombudsman has promised to continue and has the enthusiasm to speed up the investigation of the cases already filed,” she added.

Castro said the committee’s operations are ongoing despite the vacancies.

“Even if we say only one member remains in the ICI, the executive director is still there,” she said.

“The investigations continue, so the work will not stop,” Castro added.

She said the focus remains on accelerating case resolution and ensuring that pending investigations move forward.

Earlier, the commission vowed to continue carrying out its mandate despite the resignations of former DPWH chief Rogelio Singson and Rossana Fajardo.
