Major airports log nearly 1m passengers daily during holidays

Major airports across the country recorded nearly one million passengers daily during the holiday season, with Manila airport alone accommodating an average of around 160,000 to 170,000 passengers each day.

Despite the surge in air travelers, the Philippine National Police–Aviation Security Group, in close coordination with airport authorities, maintained a safe, orderly, and secure aviation environment, particularly at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

“In light of this consistently high passenger volume, our law enforcement personnel exhibited unwavering vigilance and professionalism in safeguarding the safety and security of passengers, airport staff, and their families,” said PNP-Aviation Security Group Director Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr.

Bartolome said additional personnel were strategically deployed to NAIA and other major airports to bolster security measures.

“This reinforcement was intended to enhance operational efficiency, improve passenger assistance, and ensure a swift response to any security concerns during the holiday rush,” he added.

Bartolome said that through an elevated security posture, intelligence-driven operations, and strong inter-agency collaboration, Aviation Security Group personnel successfully mitigated potential aviation security threats while facilitating the smooth and safe transit of holiday travelers nationwide.

“The Aviation Security Group remains committed to safeguarding the nation’s aviation sector and will continue working closely with its partners to ensure public safety, especially during peak travel periods,” he said.

Bartolome also reassured air travelers of the group’s continued readiness and commitment to maintaining peace, security, and order in all airports across the Philippines.
