The Philippine’s Western Naval Command (WNC) welcomed home on Dec. 17 the troops who escorted a mission to Lawak and Patag Islands at the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in the contested West Philippine Sea (WPS).
A welcome ceremony was held for the troops and the mission team aboard the Navy ship BRP Laguna after dropping anchor in Puerto Princesa City.
The mission ensured the sustained deployment of personnel and the delivery of essential supplies to forward areas, reinforcing the Philippines’ continuous presence in the disputed territory.
“The activity marked the successful completion of the Rotation and Resupply (RORE) mission and recognized the dedicated service of personnel deployed in forward areas.” The WNC said in a statement.
The unit underscored that regular RORE missions are vital to maintaining operational readiness and morale among forward forces stationed in the KIG.
The WNC also recognized the professionalism and sacrifices of both the troops and the team who carried out the mission.
The leadership of Naval Task Force 42 thanked the troops for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the Kalayaan Island Group.
