Seventeen police personnel, including a chief of police, were relieved from their posts over an alleged drinking session inside a police station in Eastern Samar, a police official said Wednesday.
Police Regional Office-8 information chief Lt. Col. Analiza Catilogo-Armeza said those relieved include 16 uniformed personnel, among them the Dolores Municipal Police Station chief, and one non-uniformed personnel.
Photos circulating on social media showed policemen allegedly drinking inside the station, reportedly during a Christmas party.
Armeza said initial reports claimed no disturbance occurred and only photos of the incident were circulated.
She stressed that PRO-8 will not tolerate misconduct, reiterating that the Philippine National Police strictly prohibits alcohol consumption while on duty and within police premises.
