OVP working on key initiatives for 90th anniversary

Vice President Sara Duterte marked the 90th anniversary of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) by highlighting its enduring role in serving the Filipino people and advancing reforms to strengthen its impact and legacy.

In a video statement posted on Thursday, Duterte highlighted three key initiatives to keep the OVP strong, stable, and effective for the next century.

Among these, the Vice President said the creation of the OVP Museum aims to preserve and showcase the history and legacy of the vice presidency for future generations.

She also mentioned the establishment of a permanent OVP office, noting that it is “dedicated to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure uninterrupted, accessible service delivery, regardless of administration.”

To recall, the OVP is now located at Robinsons Cybergate Plaza in Mandaluyong City, while former vice presidents Leni Robredo and Jejomar Binay previously held office at the Quezon City Reception House in New Manila and the Coconut Palace in Pasay City, respectively.

The Vice President added that a charter is being pursued as a legislative measure to formally define the mandate, functions, and capacities of the OVP.

“These initiatives are our commitment to democratic institution-building. Strengthening this office will allow us to serve you better, more efficiently, and with greater impact,” Duterte said.
