‘Your money is safe,’ GSIS chief assures members

Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo Veloso on Thursday assured members and pensioners that the state pension fund remains financially strong and profitable amid rumors of losses.

“I am telling you that your GSIS is strong, is making money. There is no truth to (reports) that we lost money,” Veloso said in The Agenda Forum in Quezon City. “I only have one request—you free us from politicking. We are not politicians. We are professional.”

Veloso emphasized that the GSIS continues to invest prudently to protect the funds entrusted by government workers.

“We will always make sure that your money is safe, that we continue to invest responsibly, and ensure that your pension is safe so that when the time comes—either you need a pension or loan—your GSIS is here,” he added.

He also highlighted the agency’s recognition from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) for efficient public service delivery.

“ARTA gave us an award because we don’t do any ‘teka-teka’ (delays or excuses). This means that when our members are in need, the assistance is released to them instantly,” Veloso said, noting that the award reflects GSIS’ commitment to prompt and transparent service.

Veloso expressed gratitude for the honor, saying the recognition affirms the institution’s continuing efforts to provide faster and more reliable services to its members nationwide.

GSIS achieved a 100 percent success rate in the 2025 Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Report Card Survey (RCS) 2.0, with all 10 of its surveyed branches receiving top marks for outstanding public service.

Out of 904 government agencies evaluated nationwide, only 59 were recognized, and GSIS accounted for 10 of those awardees.

The GSIS branches in Iloilo and General Santos received Gold Awards for earning “Excellent” ratings, the highest recognition given to government offices with scores between 95 percent and 100 percent.

Eight other offices — the GSIS Head Office in Pasay City and its branches in Cotabato, Dagupan, Dumaguete, Maasin, Malaybalay, Butuan and Tuguegarao — garnered Silver Awards for “Very Satisfactory” performance.

The ARTA Report Card Survey measures the quality of frontline service, adequacy of facilities and citizen satisfaction.
