The Office of the Ombudsman on Monday clarified that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla is in good health amid remarks taken out of context.
In a public statement, the office said Remulla continues to discharge his duties with full vigor and dedication.
“We assure the public that the Ombudsman is determined to hold those responsible for this flood control issue accountable — and he is in even better shape to do so. His second chance at life has given him the determination and conviction that he has nothing to fear or delay,” the office said in Filipino.
It clarified that the Ombudsman has been cancer-free for a year and a half. Likewise, he exercises every morning before coming to the office to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Remulla stressed that his recent statement about his health is in the past tense, as it refers to his experience before he took office as Ombudsman.
In a recent vlog with veteran journalist Luchi Cruz-Valdes, the former Department of Justice (DOJ) secretary shared he was earlier diagnosed with leukemia.
