2 missing from ‘Ramil’ onslaught—NDRRMC

Two people were reported missing in Eastern Visayas as Tropical Storm Ramil lashed several regions over the weekend, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported Monday.

In its latest situation update, the NDRRMC said seven deaths and one injury have so far been recorded due to the storm’s onslaught. The fatalities were reported in Calabarzon and Western Visayas, while both missing persons were from Region 8 (Eastern Visayas).

The storm also triggered flooding in at least 15 areas across Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.

According to the agency, Ramil displaced 133,196 individuals, or 37,825 families, from 355 barangays across four regions. Classes in various regions have also been suspended for Monday due to the effects of bad weather.

The local government of Roxas City, Capiz on Sunday announced the declaration of a state of calamity due to rains and the floods brought about by ‘Ramil.’

Under Resolution 263-2025 shared by Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, the city council in a special session unanimously approved the motion of council member Fernando Luis Viterbo to declare a state of calamity.

The resolution cited the continuous rains and floods that prompted the evacuation of residents, the destruction and damage to lives, properties, agricultural crops, livelihood, and various infrastructure projects in the city.
